Hay-ing

(I started this a month ago. None of this is true right now. Cutting is over.  However, I wanted all you city folk to know about hay-ing.  You're welcome.;)) This week was really slow on the farm.  It's been nice.  They are just getting to the end of 4th cutting.  The final cutting. Maybe.  Its actually early in the year to be getting done and they could get another partial, but we don't know what Uncle Rick has planned.(There wasn't a full 5th cutting.  It's called a green chop.  They cut, rake, chop and haul it away for cows.)

I wanted to document exactly how hay harvest works.  Well, not exactly, cause I don't know.  But I took some pictures of some of the steps. Ha!

Watering the hay

Swathing(cutting-again for you city folk.)

Raking

Baling

Hauling
This is the only picture I have.  Garrett says it's the "noisy, hot one", so you aren't missing much.  They haul the bails to the stack yard.

Stacking
Surprise!! No pictures here either.  I think I was tired.  They put the bales in a stack.

And then during the winter they work on getting the equipment back in order for next year.

The view here is always amazing.
